Corona or “Coronas”? Domestic Violence during COVID-19 Quarantine

Corona is like a death word for many of us. And yes it has proved to the world. Moving through this pandemic, I want to question you that do we have only “one corona”? Mean to say we are now having many “coronas” because of this one coronavirus. I was thinking a couple of days before that what about the women or children during this lockdown when the only “shelter” they have is their so-called “home”. I mean for the people who used to stay out of their homes to earn living or the children who used to go to school and have some relief from domestic abuse or domestic violence. What they are facing right now? Domestic Violence during COVID-19 Quarantine?

What does France say?

The same I heard on a news channel then, and I said to myself that yes this is the point to be addressed as well.  It was said that the French Government to house domestic abuse dupes in hotels as many cases escalate during Coronavirus Lockdown.

Around the world, there has been a concern that there is an increase in the number of domestic violence cases. The reason is that governments have located their citizens under lockdown in order to avoid the spread of COVID-19. It has infected almost 803,313 and killed almost 38,743 people (According to March 31, 2020).

The lockdown is now in place until April 15, 2020. So, there is a high probability that it will be extended. It will further endanger the wellbeing of sufferers of domestic violence. If we see the cases in detail country wise, then we have many to discuss. Few are here:-

What should we do?

The government should make some strategy and pay attention to this issue, hot during these COVID-19 quarantine days. Since the problem is not a minute. Moreover, on an individual level, all we can do is minimize the stress within our houses and the surrounding. Help people financially and morally. We should not circulate the news that is unauthentic. We should avoid anything that creates stress and hype in people.

Our help to the domestic violence victims?

People help each other for food during this time. Similarly, track poor souls who are the victims of violence. Call authorities or report for them. Make use of social media to help them. One bold step can save many lives. In addition, for yourself at least in your home, make yourself busy and happy. Further, try to adapt to a new life pattern during this time. The time shall pass and the sun would rise again and your day will come. Just stay safe and play your part. Good luck!!
